Indian Naval ship concludes visit to Malaysia and Vietnam

The Indian Navy's Eastern fleet operation deployment to the Southeast nations of Vietnam and Malaysia has concluded. The Indian Navy, as part of the government of india’s diplomacy, regularly undertake Operational Deployment of its ships to friendly countries to boost the long-standing friendship, cooperation and goodwill among the people of both countries.

The deployment of Indian naval ships in this region is part of the government of India's Act East and SAGAR (Security and Growth for All) policies.

Indian Naval Ship Delhi and Shakti Deployment to Malaysia 

Under the command of Rear Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar, Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Fleet, the  Indian Naval Ship Delhi and Shakti of the Eastern Naval Fleet arrived at Kota Kinabalu port of  Malaysia on 12 May 2024.

The Indian Naval Ship was accorded a warm welcome by the Royal Malaysian Navy and the Indian High Commission in Malaysia.

The Indian Ships also participated in a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX)/ PASSEX at sea with ships of the Royal Malaysian Navy.  The PASSEX exercise will strengthen the degree of interoperability between the two Navies.

During the harbour visit, the two navies engaged in professional exchange and other activities to strengthen their naval personnel's bonds. 

INS Kiltan Visit to Vietnam 

On 12 May 2024, the INS Kiltan of the visited the Eastern Fleet docked at Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. The Vietnam People’s Navy and the Indian Embassy welcomed it.

The visit’s main aim is to increase cooperation between the two navies through professional interactions, sporting events, social exchanges, and community outreach. The Indian Navy also participated in the Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX)/ PASSEX with the Vietnam People’s Navy.

About Indian Naval Ship Delhi, Kiltan, and Shakti 

INS Kiltan is an indigenous anti-submarine corvette designed by the Indian Navy's Directorate of Naval Design and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.

INS Kiltan is one of the four P28 Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) corvettes of the Indian Navy.

INS Delhi is a guided missile destroyer which was inducted into the Indian Navy in 1997. It is an indigenously built naval ship under Project -15 of the Indian Navy.

INS Shakti is a Fleet Support Ship of the Indian Navy.

Fleets of the Indian Navy 

The Indian Navy has two fleets, Eastern and Western Fleets. A fleet refers to a group of naval ships, including frigates, corvettes, cruisers, aircraft carriers, submarines, and an amphibious assault fleet. All these ships operate under one authority. 

The Eastern fleet operates under the Eastern Command of the Indian Navy, which is based in Visakhapatnam. 

The Western Fleet is under the Western Command based in Mumbai.
