Dr Jaishankar’s visit to Netherlands, Denmark and Germany,Get Details

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar concluded his six-day official visit to the European countries of the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany on 24 May 2025. 

The visit assumed significance after the cessation of firing between India and Pakistan on 10 May 2025, after India launched Operation Sindoor. 

The visit to the three European Union countries from 19-24 May 2025 was part of the diplomatic offensive launched by the government of India to expose Pakistan and its role in nurturing terror. 

Dr Jaishankar’s Visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands 

He visited the Netherlands on 19 & 20 May 2025 and met Netherlands Prime Minister Dick Schoof, and foreign minister Caspar Veldkamp in the Netherlands capital Amsterdam.

Dr Jaishankar thanked the Netherlands government for supporting India in its fight against terrorism.

The Netherlands is one of India's top trading partners.

In 2024-25, India's exports to the Netherlands were $ 22.76 billion, and its total imports were around $ 5 billion.

In 2023-24, the Netherlands was India's third-largest export market worldwide and its largest European market.

Dr Jaishankar’s visit to Denmark

After the Netherlands, Dr Jaishankar visited Denmark on 20 & 21 May 2025.

He met Denmark’s Prime Minister Ms. Mette Frederiksen, and the Foreign Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

Dr Jaishankar discussed bilateral, regional and international issues. He also expressed gratitude to Denmark for supporting India in its fight against terrorism.

Dr Jaishankar’s visit to Germany 

In the last leg of his three European nation tours, Dr Jaishnakar visited Germany.

He visited Germany from 22-24 May 2025.

Dr Jaishnakar visited Germany as both countries are celebrating the completion of 25 years of Strategic Partnership.

In 2020, India and Germany elevated their ties to a Strategic Partnership level.

He met the newly elected German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and conveyed India’s appreciation for the German government’s support in the fight against terrorism. 

Chancellor Merz strongly supported further deepening the multifaceted India-Germany Strategic Partnership across diverse sectors.

Dr Jaishankar also met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, and both agreed to expand collaboration in key strategic areas, including defence, artificial Intelligence (AI), digital technologies, green and sustainable development, and talent mobility.
