PM Modi to Visit Ghana, Trinidad & Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, Namibia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit five countries—Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia — from July 2 to 9, 2025. The Ministry of External Affairs announced the schedule of the Prime Minister's forthcoming foreign visit on June 27, 2025. 

It is the second foreign trip of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after India launched Operation Sindoor to hit terror bases in Pakistan in retaliation for the Pahalagam terror attack in Kashmir, in which 26 tourists were killed.

The first foreign visit of Prime Minister Modi after Operation Sindoor was to Cyprus, Canada and Croatia from June 15 to 19, 2025.

Visit to Ghana 

Prime Minister Modi will visit the African country of Ghana on 2nd and 3rd July 2025. 

• It will be his first State visit to Ghana.
• He will be the second Indian Prime Minister to visit Ghana, after PV Narasimha Rao’s visit on 8-9 November 1995.
• He will meet Ghanaian President John Mahama and hold summit-level talks.
• India is one of Ghana's top trading partners and its largest export market.
• India primarily imports gold, cocoa, and cashew nuts from Ghana.
• India provided COVID-19 vaccines to Ghana during the pandemic.
• India also provides concessional loans to Ghana.

Visit to Trinidad & Tobago

From Ghana, Prime Minister Modi will visit the Caribbean island nation of Trinidad and Tobago on July 3-4, 2025.

• This will be the first official visit of Prime Minister Modi to Trinidad & Tobago.
• He will be the third Indian Prime Minister to visit the country, after Atal Bihari Vajpayee in February 1999 and Dr Manmohan Singh, who attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Port of Spain in November 2009.
• During his visit to the country ,Prime Minister Modi will meet the President of Trinidad & Tobago,  Christine Carla Kangaloo, and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
• There is a large Indian-origin population in Trinidad and Tobago.

Visit to Argentina 

From Trinidad and Tobago, Prime Minister Modi will visit the Southern American state of Argentina on July 4-5, 2025.

• This will be the second official visit of Prime Minister Modi to Argentina. He visited Argentina in November-December 2018 to attend the G20 Summit meeting.
• He will be the third Indian Prime Minister to visit the country, following Indira Gandhi in 1968 and PV Narasimha Rao in 1995, for the G15 Summit in November 1995.
• Argentina is an important country for India, as it holds 20% of the world's known lithium reserves (also known as White Gold).

Visit to Brazil 

The Prime Minister will visit the South American country Brazil on 5-8 July 2025.

• He will be in Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Summit meeting and will also be on a bilateral visit. The 17th BRICS Summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro on 6 July 2025.
• For a bilateral visit, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Brazil's capital, Brasilia, to hold a summit-level meeting with Brazilian President Luis Inácio Lula Da Silva.
• PM Modi will be visiting Brazil for the fourth time. He visited Brazil in 2014 and 2019 to attend the BRICS summit, and in 2024 to attend the 19th G20 Summit Meeting.
• He is the third Indian Prime Minister to visit Brazil after Indira Gandhi in 1968 and Dr Manmohan Singh in 2006,2010,2012.

Visit to Namibia 

Prime Minister Modi will visit Namibia from July 9, 2025.

• PM Modi will be visiting Namibia for the first time.
• He is the third Indian Prime Minister to visit Namibia after Vishwanath Pratap Singh in 1990 and Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1998.
• Namibia has provided eight Cheetahs to India for its ambitious Cheetah translocation project, and the cheetahs have been released in the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh.
