PM Modi Lays Foundation for Nabinagar Super Thermal Project Stage-II

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project, Stage II, in Bihar on 30 May 2025. The Prime Minister, who was on an official visit to Bihar, also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various rail, road, and airport projects.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on an official visit to Sikkim, West Bengal, and Bihar on 29 and 30 May 2025.

He virtually addressed the Sikkim@50 celebration in Gangtok to commemorate the 50 years of the statehood of Sikkim. He visited Alipurduar district of West Bengal and laid the foundation stone of the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Alipurdur and Cooch Behar districts of the state.

Highlights of PM Visit to Bihar

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, was in Bihar on 29 and 30 May 2025. He visited Patna and Karakat. The following are the main projects whose foundation stone was laid/inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bihar.

Airport inauguration/foundation stone in Patna

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Patna Airport's newly constructed passenger terminal, which cost Rs 1200 crore and can handle around 1 crore passengers per year.
He also laid the foundation stone for constructing a new civilian enclave at Bihta Airport in the state.
Bihta Airport is an Indian Air Force base near Patna.

Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli

PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of the bridge over the Ganga River, which will connect Buxar in Bihar to Bharauli in Uttar Pradesh.
The National Highway Authority of India will construct the bridge.
The Rs 368 crore project will have a length of 3.2 km.
The bridge is being built west of the existing Veer Kunwar Singh Bridge.

Nabinagar SuperThermal Power Project, Stage II

The NTPC is developing the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project Stage II Limited.

It is located in the Aurangabad district of Bihar.
Three units of 800 MW each will be constructed.
The total cost of the project is Rs 29,984 crore.
It is based on Ultra Supercritical technology, which will reduce freshwater consumption.
Power will be supplied to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Punjab.
