Indian Constitution in Sanskrit and Maithili language launched

President Droupadi Murmu unveiled the Indian constitution's translation in Sanskrit and Maithili language in New Delhi on 26 November 2024 on the occasion of the Samvidhan Diwas. Maithili is mainly spoken in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Nepal.
Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and other dignitaries were present at the occasion.
The government of India has undertaken a project to translate the Indian constitution into all 22 scheduled languages mentioned in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.

This year marks 75 years of the enactment of the Indian constitution. The Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Indian constitution on 26 November 1949, which was promulgated on 26 January 1950.
Since 2015, 26 November has been observed in the country as the Samvidhan Diwas.
A function was held in the Parliament's Samvidhan Sadan to observe the Samvidhan Diwas and the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the constitution.
The old Parliament building has been renamed Samvidhan Sadan by the Modi government.
On the occasion, President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint sitting of both houses of Parliament, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
